KENOSHA, Wis. — The Davenport University women's soccer team closed its regular season on Saturday afternoon with a 3–1 defeat against Wisconsin-Parkside at Wood Road Field. After a scoreless opening half, all four goals came in the second as the Rangers pulled away late to secure the win.
Both sides traded early chances in the first half, but neither could break through. Davenport goalkeeper
Elizabeth Wolter made two key stops to keep the match level, while
Alexis Martinez recorded the Panthers' lone shot on goal before halftime. The teams went into the break locked in a 0–0 tie.
Parkside opened the scoring in the 52nd minute when Makayla Wesemann redirected a shot off a corner kick sequence into the net. Davenport answered just six minutes later, as
Madison Fant pounced on a rebound inside the box to equalize after an initial effort from
Josie Wilcox was saved.
The Rangers reclaimed the lead moments later through Ava Rizzitano, who capitalized on a misplayed goal kick to make it 2–1. They added an insurance goal in the 75th minute when Leah Forde converted her own rebound following a free kick delivery.
Fant finished with one goal on one shot for the Panthers, while Wilcox tallied two attempts, including one on target.
Bailey Gauthier collected six saves in the second half, and Wolter added two in the first as the duo combined for eight stops on the day.
Davenport concludes the regular season 4–11–3 overall and 4–9–1 in GLIAC play, earning the No. 6 seed in the upcoming GLIAC Tournament. The Panthers will travel to face No. 3 seed Saginaw Valley State in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Nov. 11.
