Jastrzabek earns GLIAC Freshman of the Year; Women finish 4th and men 6th at GLIAC Championships

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Davenport swimming and diving teams concluded the four-day GLIAC Championships on Saturday. The women's team finished fourth with 426 points, while the men's team finished sixth with 345 points. The major award winner for the Panthers was Nadia Jastrzabek who was named the female Freshman of the Year. Jastrzabek finished second in three different events including the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 breast. She hit the NCAA "B" standard in the 50 free with a time of 22.92. Nadia also hit the NCAA "B" standard in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.88. She then set the GLIAC record in the 100 free (50.01) but was second behind Lucy Hedley of GVSU (49.37). Jastrzabek also set the school record in all three events including the 100 breast which stood for seven years.

Ella Wagner placed second in the 200 breast to break the school record (2:16.83) and made the NCAA "B" cut in the process. Owen Stender tied for second place in the 200 breast (1:56.86) to break the school record and make the NCAA "B" cut. Alicja Pinkowicz had the team's lone first place finish in the 100 butterfly (54.88) and was able to hit the NCAA "B" standard. She was also a part of the third place 400 medley relay (3:46.58) with Wagner, Asyia Shank, and Jastrzabek.

Maciej Konarski made the NCAA "B" cut in the 200 breast (2:00.34) during the prelims and then finished seventh in the final (2:00.58). He was also able to finish second in the 400 IM with a time of 3:53.63 to make the NCAA "B" cut. Gerard Labernia Oms in the 1,650 free set the school record at 15:51.72 and hit the NCAA "B" standard.

Micah Sholl set the school record in the 100 breast with a time of 53.34. Marcel Setlak set the school record in the 100 back at 48.37. Eric Perczak tied for third place in the 200 butterfly (1:47.70) and set the school record while making the NCAA "B" cut. Asyia Shank in the 200 butterfly set the school record (2:05.75) and finished fifth. Matthew Gauck hit the NCAA "B" cut in 3-meter diving and set the school record with 468.25 points.
