WASHINGTON, Mich. — Davenport University women's golf finished fourth at the Wayne State Warrior Invitational, posting a team score of 925 over three rounds. Notably, the team broke the 54-hole school record, besting the previous record by two strokes set in 2024. After a strong second round of 304, the team could not duplicate that success on the final day with a 315.
ThaiLee Gerding led the way, finishing tied for 13th with a score of 229, improving each round with scores of 78, 76, and concluding with a 75 in the final round.
Lauren Gervais also made significant contributions, notably shooting a career-best, one-under 71 in the second round to finish 16th overall at 231.
Hannah Robinson and
Venetia Chap both tied for 25th with scores of 236. Robinson's steady play included rounds of 77, 78, and 81, while Chap opened strongly with a 73 and finished well with a 78.
Melissa Walker finished with a 42nd-place outing as she had her lowest round of 79 in the afternoon session on Monday.
Taegen Skatzka and
Jaelyn Feller both competed as individual, not counting towards the team score. Skatzka finished in 44th with a score of 249 (84-84-81), while Feller was one stroke back with a total of 250 (82-79-89).
The next challenge for the Panthers is set for Saturday, Sept. 27, as they travel to the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational. The two-day event will take place at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich.
