SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Davenport ACHA Division 1 men's hockey team endured a tough weekend as they were swept by No. 9 Drury by scores of 6-2 on Friday and 5-1 on Saturday. Drury has begun the season with an 8-0 record, while Davenport currently sits at 1-3.
On Friday, Drury scored the first three goals of the game before Davenport could get on the board at 13:18.
Brendan Bauer got a power play goal with assists from
Ryder McMillen and
Peter Stojcevski. Drury rattled off three more goals in a row into the third period. Joe Davidson scored twice for the home team and his second goal was on the power play to give Drury a 6-1 advantage.
Noah Bradburn scored unassisted at 18:33 on the power play for his first goal of the season.
Kyler Lowden collected 35 saves in net for Davenport. Both teams would also finish 2-of-5 on the power play.
Moving to Saturday, it was a similar recipe as Drury scored the first three goals. Luke Aston's fourth of the season, coming on the power play at 1:23 of the second period, gave Drury a 2-0 lead. Matthew Johnston scored at 14:45 for his second goal of the season for a 3-0 advantage. Bauer continued his early-season scoring prowess with his fourth goal of the season unassisted at 15:34. K-T Walters had a big night with a hat trick and scored twice in the third period to put the game away.
Reid Ramsay in his first start of the season for Davenport recorded a whopping 56 saves. Drury finished the game 1-of-4, while Davenport was 0-of-4 on the power play.
The Panthers will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 3 with a trip to Indiana Tech set for 7:30 PM.
