FINDLAY, Ohio – Behind a sixth-place individual finish from Cayden Kwan and three golfers placing inside the top 20, the Davenport University men's golf team secured third place at the Doc Spragg Invitational that concluded on Tuesday (Oct. 13). The Panthers posted a three-round total of 861 (-3) at Findlay Country Club, finishing ahead of 16 teams in the competitive 19-team field.

Missouri-St. Louis captured the team championship with a 16-under-par 848, while Wayne State finished runner-up at 854 (-10). Davenport finished just seven strokes behind Wayne State and three strokes ahead of Ashland and Tiffin, which tied for fourth at 864 (E).

Kwan led the Panthers throughout the tournament, finishing sixth individually with a four-under-par 212. He opened the event with a two-under-par 70 before delivering his best round of the tournament, a three-under-par 69, in the second round. Kwan entered the final 18 holes at five-under-par and closed with a one-over-par 73 to secure his spot among the top six finishers. His performance was highlighted by two consecutive rounds under par, making him Davenport's top individual finisher.

Chen-Shiuan Wu followed with a strong showing of his own, finishing tied for 13th at even-par 216. Wu got off to an excellent start, recording a three-under-par 69 in the opening round, the lowest first-round score among Davenport's five competitors. He followed with a one-under-par 71 in the second round, putting him at four-under-par through 36 holes. Despite closing with a four-over-par 76, Wu secured a top-15 finish and joined Kwan as the only Panthers to shoot under par in each of the first two rounds.

Pedro Russi rounded out Davenport's trio of top-20 finishers, tying for 19th with a two-over-par 218. Russi began the tournament with an even-par 72 before posting a four-over-par 76 in the second round. He responded with an impressive final-round performance, carding a two-under-par 70, the lowest score by a Davenport golfer during the final 18 holes. His six-stroke improvement from the second to third round helped the Panthers maintain their position among the tournament's top three teams.

Hudson Turcotte provided another solid contribution, finishing tied for 39th with a seven-over-par 223. Turcotte opened the tournament with a one-under-par 71, giving Davenport four golfers at or below par in the opening round. After shooting a six-over-par 78 in the second round, he bounced back with a two-over-par 74 to close the event, improving by four strokes over his previous round.

Justin Grimard completed the Panthers' five-player lineup, tying for 44th with an eight-over-par 224.
