BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Davenport University women's lacrosse team fell to D'Youville 14-12 on Saturday at Dobson Field. Sophomore
Addison Roe had the best game of her college career, ending with three goals and two assists, both marking career-highs.
DU took the early lead with
Jade Remacle scoring two consecutive goals at 10:31 and 9:45, establishing a 2-0 advantage. D'Youville responded with three consecutive goals, shifting the score to 3-2 in favor of the hosts. The Panthers equalized the contest when Roe, assisted by
Mika Kulynych, scored at 3:38, ending the quarter tied at 3-3.
At the start of the second quarter, the Saints went on a 3-0 run to take a 6-3 advantage over the Panthers. Davenport responded with
Alyssa Bird scoring at 9:40, followed by a free position goal from
Jenna Gillis at 7:33, narrowing the margin to 6-5.
Gabby Basha then tied the game at 6-6 with a free position shot at 1:44. The quarter ended with both teams locked in a draw.
Elly Teliczan leveled the score at 7-7, assisted by Roe, at 12:28 in the third quarter.
Brianna Rodriguez added another for Davenport at 10:43, pushing the Panthers ahead 8-7. Roe scored a goal, assisted by Basha, at 1:29, tying the game 9-9 as the quarter ended.
The final quarter was a back-and-forth battle between Davenport and the Saints, resulting in a narrow finish. Madison McGinn of D'Youville scored early at 12:36, but Davenport responded quickly with a goal by Bird at 12:02, equalizing the score. Gillis, assisted by Roe, put Davenport ahead at 9:45, but D'Youville's later tied the game at 12-12 with a goal at 6:27. A man-up goal at 1:15 secured the Saints' 14-12 victory as the quarter concluded.
