Women's golf finishes 10th at Findlay Spring Invite

RICHMOND, Ky. — The Davenport University women's golf team competed at the Findlay Spring Invitational held at Boone's Trace National Golf Club, finishing 10th overall in a 15-team field with a two-round total of 660 (+84). The Panthers improved their score by 18 strokes between rounds, carding a 339 in the opening round before bouncing back with a 321 in round two. The team played 36 holes on Sunday and was scheduled to play 18 more on Monday, but inclement weather cancelled the final round.

Leading the way for Davenport was Lauren Gervais, who tied for 27th overall after posting rounds of 80 and 80 to finish with a two-round score of 160 (+16). Gervais birdied hole 10 and 14 in the opening round and the 15th hole in the second round. Venetia Chap followed closely behind, tying for 44th with a total of 165 (+21), highlighted by an improved second-round score of 81. She birdied the 4th and 13th hole in the first round and the 8th hole in the second round. ThaiLee Gerding placed tied for 51st after firing an 87 in round one and bouncing back with an 80 in round two for a total of 167 (+23). She carded one birdie in each of her rounds.

Rounding out the Panthers lineup were Melissa Walker and Hannah Robinson. Walker finished tied for 57th with a score of 170 (+26), improving significantly in the second round with an 80 after opening with a 90. She was able to card a birdie in each of her rounds. Robinson placed tied for 62nd with a total of 176 (+32), recording rounds of 88 in both days of competition. She recorded a birdie in the second round at the par-5, 8th hole.
