Panthers Split Weekend, Begin Conference Play Undefeated

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich - This past weekend, the Davenport University women's tennis team split its two matches. The Panthers took down Purdue Northwest in its GLIAC opener at home before falling on the road at No. 4 Findlay.

Match One vs. Purdue Northwest
Result: W, 5-2
How it Happened
The Panthers set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1–0 lead. The pairing of Sienna Opray and Amy Bloch picked up a 6–2 win, followed by Addison Lind and Maja Sandstrom matching that scoreline with another 6–2 victory. Skye Vandeleur and Alice Maccani completed the sweep with a decisive 6–1 result, giving Davenport full momentum heading into singles.

In singles action, Davenport continued to control the match, claiming four courts to seal the win. Opray and Sandstrom each earned straight-set victories, while Lotte Federski and Lind added wins to secure the team result.

Match Two vs. #4 Findlay
Result: L, 6-1
How it Happened
The Panthers opened the match in doubles action, where Findlay claimed two of the three courts to secure the early point. Davenport's lone win came at No. 3 doubles, as Vandeleur and Maccani delivered a dominant 6–0 victory. Despite the strong showing on that court, Findlay took wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to carry a 1–0 lead into singles.

In singles play, Davenport found its only point at the No. 4 position, where Sandstrom battled to a straight-set win, 7–5, 6–4. The Panthers competed across the lineup, including a three-set effort from Addison Lind at No. 6 singles, but Findlay ultimately secured victories on five courts to close out the 6–1 final.
