Women’s Tennis Picks Up Third Straight Win

HOUGHTON, Mich. –  The Davenport University women's tennis team picked up its third straight win on Saturday (April 11), taking down Michigan Tech in Michigan's upper peninsula. 

Starting off strong, the Panthers swept the doubles with three close victories. At No.1 doubles, Sienna Oprat and Amy Bloch secured a 7-5 victory over Bella Bigari and Emily Rose. Skye Vandeleur and Alice Maccani also won their match 7-5 over Alexandra Nikonenko and Katerina Khardina slotted at the No. 3 spot. Rounding things out for doubles play was Addison Lind and Maja Sandstrom at No. 2 doubles with a 7-6 win.

In singles action, Bloch defeated Bigari 7-5, 6-0 at the No. 2 slot. Sandstrom had a dominant performance at the No. 4 position securing a 6-0, 6-1 win, while Lotte Federski (No. 5) won her match 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

Looking ahead, the Panthers will conclude the regular season at Grand Valley State on Saturday (April 18) at 5 p.m. at Premier Tennis in Grandville, Mich.
