Basha Career Day Leads Panthers to Big Senior Day Victory Over SVSU

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Gabby Basha registered a career-high nine points (four goals and five assists) to lead the Davenport University women's lacrosse team to a commanding 17-6 victory over Saginaw Valley State University on Friday (April 24) at the DU Turf Field. The Panther's offense was particularly potent in the first quarter, scoring 10 goals to set the tone for the game to give them a senior day victory.

The first quarter opened with Davenport establishing control early, as Jade Remacle won the initial draw control, setting the tone for the team's offensive dominance. Davenport took a commanding lead, scoring ten unanswered goals. Remacle initiated the scoring at the 13:09 mark with a goal assisted by Alyssa Bird. Addison Roe followed with two goals, the first assisted by Mika Kulynych at 12:43 and the second by Gabby Basha at 10:57. Kulynych added two goals, both assisted by Basha, the latter coming at 3:49. Basha delivered a standout performance, scoring a hat trick, including a free position goal with 14 seconds remaining. Davenport's defense was equally effective, forcing multiple turnovers and maintaining a clean sheet through the quarter.

SVSU opened the second quarter with a pair of goals to trim the DU lead to eight (10-2) and the Panthers called a timeout. Davenport then capitalized on a player-up opportunity, with Roe scoring at 7:55, assisted by Ava Clark. Clark then scored herself at 3:43 and secured a draw control shortly after. The quarter concluded with Jenna Gillis scoring with five seconds remaining, extending Davenport's lead to end the quarter 13-2.

Remacle scored the first Panther goal of the second half at 12:16, followed by Brianna Rodriguez striking at the 3:00 mark. Kulynych further increased Davenport's advantage with a goal assisted by Lauryn Hansen at 1:08, concluding a productive quarter for the Panthers.

Davenport maintained a strong lead throughout the fourth quarter, highlighted by Basha's goal at 11:21, assisted by Gillis.The Cardinals managed to score twice in the final quarter, but Davenport secured the victory with a final score of 17-6.
