Panthers Bounce Back with 10-6 Win Over Findlay

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Davenport University women's lacrosse team secured a 10-6 victory over Findlay on Tuesday (April 7) at the DU Turf Field. Davenport capitalized on its player-up opportunities, scoring three player-up goals to lead the team to victory.

The game commenced with Davenport securing the initial draw control.. Alyssa Bird opened the scoring for Davenport at 9:40 after scooping up a ground ball. DU extended its lead to 2-0 when Jade Remacle found the back of the net, assisted by Gabby Basha at 7:57. Findlay responded at 2:58, narrowing the gap to 2-1 to close the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Panthers capitalized on a player-up situation, scoring three consecutive goals. Bird initiated the scoring with a free-position shot at 10:53, followed by Mika Kulynych adding another goal to the tally at 10:00. Basha further extended Davenport's lead with another player-up goal at 9:00. The Oilers responded with goals at 7:40 and 3:15. Davenport's Brianna Rodriguez concluded the quarter's scoring with a goal at 2:32, solidifying a 6-3 lead by the end of the half.

The third quarter saw Davenport gain momentum with a strong performance, outscoring the Oilers 3-1. Findlay initially took the lead in the quarter with a goal at 8:07. However, the Panthers quickly responded as Remacle scored with 7:54 remaining, assisted by Jenna Gillis. Basha then scored twice for Davenport, with her first goal coming from a free-position shot at 4:48 and another at 2:31, extending Davenport's lead to 9-4. The quarter ended with Davenport maintaining control, evidenced by Ashley Sanders securing a draw control late in the quarter.

Rodriguez opened the scoring in the fourth with a goal at 14:12, extending DU's advantage. The Oilers responded with a pair of goals to narrow the gap, but it wasn't enough as the Panthers held on.
