Panthers Hold On for 3-2 Win at Parkside

KENOSHA, Wis. — Davenport picked up a 3-2 conference win over Wis.-Parkside on Friday, holding off the Rangers late to earn its second win of the season. The Panthers were outshot 22-8 but got nine saves from Carter McGowan to secure the win.

Davenport got on the board first in the seventh minute when Dugan Black scored off an assist from Jordy Rodriguez at 7:25. Parkside answered in the 38th minute when Hudson Scheiber found the back of the net to send the teams into halftime tied 1-1. McGowan made four saves in the opening half.

The Panthers regained the lead early in the second half when Isiah Meyer scored off an assist from Archie Oliver at 47:30. Charlie Davis then converted a penalty kick at 55:21 to give Davenport a 3-1 advantage.

Parkside continued to pressure the Panthers and cut the deficit to one with a penalty kick later in the half. McGowan came up with five saves in the second half, including several during a stretch of pressure from the Rangers, as Davenport held on for the 3-2 victory.

Davis finished with the game-winning goal on his only shot of the match. Black and Meyer also scored on their only shots on goal.

Davenport returns to action Sunday, Sept. 27, traveling to Hammond, Indiana, to take on Purdue Northwest at 3 p.m.
