2013 Postseason Quick Facts - Davenport returns to the national tournament for the second consecutive year after receiving an automatic bid by winning the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament...The Panthers shutout all three opponents (Concordia 5-0, Madonna 1-0 and Northwestern Ohio 0-0) in the tournament while beating the Racers 4-3 in a shootout, the second straight season the Panthers had to win the tournament in that fashion...Under two-time WHAC Coach of the Year Chris Allen, Davenport has an impressive resume, 17-2-1 overall and 8-1 in the WHAC, two NAIA Coaches' Top 25 upsets (No. 3 Spring Arbor and No. 12 Martin Methodist) and a program single-season record 14 shutouts...The Panthers have been ranked in the NAIA Top 25 all season, starting at No. 21 before moving at No. 7 for six straight weeks before falling back to No. 10 and their current spot at No. 11...2012 WHAC Defensive Player of the Year Michelle Marcus has been solid between the posts this season thanks to an outstanding defensive line led by 2013 WHAC Defensive Player of the Year Laken Duchar-Clark...The Panthers defense owns a 0.53 goals-against average (Marcus is 0.57) and has limited opponents to 135 shots overall, 66 on goal...Lizzie Paul, the WHAC Offensive Player of the Year, has proved to be one of the most dangerous players in the nation, ranking 13th in the NAIA in goals (21), 18th in points (48) and 28th in shots per match (4.85)...Marcus, Duchar-Clark, Paul and Paige Eli were selected to the All-WHAC team while Letesha Cannonier, Thelma Gylfadottir and Natalie McHale were tabbed an honorable mention.
NAIA National Tournament History for DU – Davenport is in its second consecutive appearance in the NAIA National Championship since the women's soccer program started in 2005...In their debut last season at Ashford (Iowa), the Panthers failed to hold on to lead as the Saints scored the go-ahead goal within the final minutes to eliminate DU 4-3...The Panthers held off Saint Ambrose (Iowa) 4-2 on Nov. 23 for the first win on the national stage...Davenport found itself close to elimination in the second round against Cumberland (Tenn.) but thanks to a trio of English natives (Paul, Cannonier & Eli) and a pair of assists by senior Thelma Gylfadottir, the Panthers completed a 3-2 comeback victory in double overtime to advance to the quarterfinal.
