Carter cheered for four years at Central Michigan University. He competed with the CMU Small Coed Team at UCA College Nationals where they had two top 10 finishes. He also competed in the Partner Stunt competition at UCA Nationals, finishing 8th in 2012 and 4th in 2013. Carter went on to coach at Grand Valley State University for 6 years. He coached the GVSU Large Coed team to a National Championship in 2016 and two runner-up finishes in 2017 and 2018. During his time at GV, Carter helped start the GV STUNT program in 2019. While with the Panthers, he has led the 2022 and 2023 Competitive Cheer team to back to back National Championships, three Conference titles in STUNT, as well as a 2023 STUNT National Championship!Â
