Alvance Robinson

AlvanceĀ Robinson is entering his third season coaching wide receivers at Davenport and his second as the passing game coordinator. During his first season as the pass game coordinator, he helped improve the Panther offense in every statistical passing category in 2018. He coached 2018 All-GLIAC wide receiver/return specialist Nate Couturier and 2018 All-GLIAC Honorable Mention wide receiver Keion Powers. Both were back-to-back offensive team MVP's in 2017 and 2018. He also mentored current Arena Football League (AFL) wide receiver Rashad Still.

Robinson spent two seasons as an assistant football coach at Marietta College in 2015 and 2016 also coaching the wideouts. He recruited future (2018) all-conference defensive end Kyle Gallagher for the Pioneers. He came to Marietta after an eight-year playing career in the Arena Football League.

Robinson attended Alabama State University where he had a four-year playing career from 2002-2005 for the Hornets. He became the fourth wide receiver in Alabama State history to surpass 1,000 yards in a single season in 2005 with 1,063 yards on 63 receptions. He returned to ASU to earn his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in recreational therapy in 2018.

Robinson helped the Hornets to back-to-back Southwestern Athletic Conference championship game appearances in 2003 and 2004. The Hornets captured the SWAC Championship in 2004. In 2005, he was named a Second Team All-American and First Team All-SWAC wide receiver. Robinson tied the school record with 12 touchdown receptions in a single season (2005). He finished his Hornet career with 93 receptions, 1,440 yards, and 13 touchdowns.

Following a year with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League, Robinson moved indoors. He played for eight seasons in the AFL from 2007-2014 making one ArenaBowl appearance (2013). He played for the Grand Rapids Rampage, Milwaukee Iron, OKC Yardawgz, Utah Blaze, Philadelphia Soul, and Portland Thunder. Robinson earned Second Team All-Arena Football League honors in 2007-08. Robinson worked out for several NFL teams including the Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, and Cincinnati Bengals.

Robinson is from Dayton, Ohio where he was a three-sport athlete attending Meadowdale High School where he graduated in 2001. He played quarterback, wide receiver, and cornerback garnering all-league honors his junior season and senior season. He also was the starting point guard for the basketball team where he earned all-league honors his senior year averaging 14.8 points and 6.2 assists per game. Robinson was a track star as well making the state meet his junior and senior year as a 4x100 meter relay runner and 300 meter hurdler.
