Greg Huster was announced as the first defensive coordinator for the incoming Davenport football program in April 2015. Huster reunites with head coach Lou Esposito and joins the Panthers after working the last three seasons for his alma mater Mount Saint Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Huster worked as an assistant head football coach and defensive coordinator under Esposito at NCAA Division II St. Joseph’s College from 2004-07. They produced two Great Lakes Valley Conference championships during their time with the Pumas.
Before coming to Davenport, Huster served as the assistant head coach to Rod Huber for the Mount St. Joseph from 2012-14. He was responsible for the running backs along with being the recruiting coordinator. In 24 months, Huster helped the Lions go from 4-6 in 2013 to an 8-2 record the following year. The 2014 season also saw Mount St. Joseph finish 7-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for a second place finish.
Prior to joining his alma mater, Huster worked two seasons as the director of recruiting for the University of Cincinnati under Butch Jones. During his time there, the Bearcats had the top recruiting class in school history which produced a 28-6 record as of last season. Cincinnati had also won the BIG EAST title along with the Liberty Bowl during Huster’s tenure.
Huster also served as the defensive coordinator for Seton Hill from 2007-11.
