John Johnson embarks on his first season as a volunteer coach working with the defensive line. He has spent 30 years in physical education and special education teaching at Central Montcalm Public Schools, Grand Rapids Public Schools and Saginaw Valley State University.
He has experience coaching the defensive line at SVSU as well as Grand Rapids Community College and Ferris State University. He also was a graduate assistant at the University of Michigan.
He has served as a head coach at Central Montcalm in wrestling, baseball, volleyball and powerlifting. He also has been head coach at Grand Rapids Creston for football and volleyball and Saranac in football.
He has playing experience at Central Michigan University and attended Flint Southwestern where he competed in football, wrestling, powerlifting and baseball. He is a Farmers Insurance agent based out of Grand Blanc, Michigan.
