JoVonne Augustus

JoVonne Augustus is entering his first full season as the wide receivers coach for the Panthers and joined the staff in the spring of 2025. Augustus has a wealth of coaching and playing experience, which will serve the current student-athlete at Davenport University. He started his playing career at Grand Rapids Creston High School under head coach Nick Brander and was named all-conference three times as well as the team's MVP and All-State honorable mention as a senior. He then attended College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California for two years. Augustus had 43 catches for 700 yards and seven touchdowns in 2007 and was named Second Team All-Western State Conference. He followed that up in 2008 as a preseason All-American and caught 29 passes for 480 yards and four scores. He then continued his collegiate career at Grand Valley State in 2010 and was named Second Team All-GLIAC. He hauled in 28 passes for 590 yards and a team-high nine TD's. He earned his bachelor's degree from GVSU in 2012 with an emphasis in sport management. After graduation, he had a short stint in the Arena Football League with the Utah Blaze in 2013.
