GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport University's athletic department has announced the hiring of Will Gordillo to direct the marching band program. Will is a graduate of Davenport University with an associate degree in Medical Assisting and also earned his bachelor of arts and sciences in history and political science at Western Michigan University. 

 

Will Gordillo has been involved with many area high school marching bands since 1991 including: Wyoming Park, Jenison, Reeths Puffer, Holland, East Grand Rapids, Fenville, Northview, and Grandville. 

 

"I am very honored to be a part of Davenport University marching band's inaugural season as its director. I am also excited to embark on this adventure to create a memorable and cutting edge marching band for a great university," said Will.

 

In addition, Will is the director of percussion at Grandville Public Schools. He directs the educational direction of the K-12 percussion program and co-designs the marching band and winter drumline shows. He lives in Jenison, MI with his wife Alicia and four kids. 

 

"We feel that a Marching Band under Will's guidance will bring added value to the game day experience at Davenport. Will has an array of experience in music in the West Michigan area. His experience coupled with his musical connections will assist us in making history by adding the first marching band ever to Davenport University," said Ronda Varnesdeel, associate director of athletics.
