Andrew Goorhouse is in his fourth year as the goalkeeper coach at Davenport. The Panthers goalkeepers have compiled a 50-14-2 record with 22 shutouts under Goorhouse's watch.
In addition to winning the program's first ever NAIA National Championship in 2014, the Panthers posted single season records in wins (22) and shutouts 12. Then-freshman Aaron Orban played every minute during the Panthers run in the NAIA National Championship, allowing only three goals en route to being named to the all-tournament team.
Goorhouse graduated from Hope College in May of 2011 where he played for the Flying Dutchmen for three seasons, starting two of them. Before college Goorhouse attended East Kentwood High School where he was a four-year varsity starter as a goalkeeper. While at Kentwood, Goorhouse was named All State at the conclusion of both his sophomore and senior seasons. Goorhouse finished his career at Kentwood with 49 shutouts (2nd all-time for MHSAA).Â
Goorhouse played club soccer for Grand-Valley Premier, and Kalamazoo Kingdom where he appeared in multiple National League Championships, and State Cup Finals. Also as a player, Goorhouse was a member of the state of Michigan’s Olympic Development team and made multiple appearances representing the state of Michigan at US Youth Soccer Academy’s Regional Camp.
Upon graduating from college Goorhouse went back to his old high school to coach along side John Conlon (two-time National High School Coach of the year). As an assistant coach at Kentwood, Goorhouse helped lead the Falcons to their third state championship and a top five national ranking.
Outside of soccer, Goorhouse is a high school special education teacher at Lee High School in Wyoming. He works for the Grand Rapids Crew Juniors and Michigan’s Olympic Development program as a goalkeeper trainer.
