Ryan Jensen

The 2024-25 school year will mark Ryan Jensen's fourth season at Davenport University and he has done wonders with the throwers. He has guided Isaiah Schafer who was a national champion in the shot put in 2021-22 and would later star at the University of Minnesota. Schafer would go on to earn USTFCCCA Division II National Scholar Field Athlete of the Year in 2022. Schafer was the national Division II champion in the shot put in 2022. Bryce Monroe was also an All-American in the shot put during the 2023-24 indoor campaign with a 12th-place finish at nationals. Noah Evers finished third in the shot put at the same meet to become a First Team All-American.

 

Coach Jensen comes to Davenport from Grand Valley State University. While at GVSU, he helped guide the throwers to:

  • 1 Team National Championship
  • 2 Team National runner ups
  • 2 Individual National championships
  • 9 All-Americans
  • 16 Division II Qualifiers
  • 2 School records
Prior to GVSU, Jensen spent time at Calvin University where he coached all field events, resulting in:
  • 2 All-Americans
  • 6 Division III qualifiers
  • 2 School records
  • 22 Conference champions
Previous to his time at Calvin, Coach Jensen coached at the Kamloops Track and Field Club in British Columbia, Canada. While there he served as the vertical jumps coach and produced:
  • 2 National champs
  • 5 National team qualifiers
  • 8 Provincial champs
