Katon enters his 2nd year as an Assistant Throws Coach for the Panthers.
After graduating with his Bachelors in Sports Management, Katon became a Graduate Assistant for Davenport University while pursuing a Masters in Business Administration. While in that role, Katon was a key asset in the coaching of two NCAA D2 National Qualifiers in the men’s hammer, six GLIAC All-Conference honors athletes, and the breaking of both outdoor school records in the shot put.
Katon continued his education and track career at Davenport University where he earned a Bachelors in Sports Management. During his time at Davenport he became All-Conference in the weight and hammer throws, and also qualified and competed in the 2016-17 NAIA Indoor and Outdoor Championships.
Coach Katon grew up in Chelsea, Mich. where he was a varsity letter recipient for football, wrestling, and track and field. While there he competed at the state finals in discus and was a part of the 2013 MHSAA Division 2 State Championship team.
