Madison Smiddy became the head coach of the women's ACHA Division I program in the summer of 2021. Smiddy joined the coaching staff for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons as an assistant coach.
Smiddy was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Smiddy grew up playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins 16U and 19U AAA teams from 2006-2009. She earned the Justine Pellman Award in 2008. Smiddy played for the Little Caesars 19U AAA team from 2009-2010 and Honey Baked 19U AAA team from 2010-11. After graduating, she went on to play for the Penn State ACHA team, earning team Rookie of the Year honors before transitioning to play NCAA Division I for the Nittany Lions her sophomore and junior years. Smiddy moved back to ACHA with the Penn State Lady Icers her senior year where she was selected to represent Team USA in the World University Games in Granada, Spain.
