Jenifer (Shoultz) McHugh joined the Davenport Athletic Training staff in August 2015 and serves as the primary athletic trainer for men's soccer, dance, Esports and women's lacrosse.
Prior to working at Davenport, Jen spent 2014-15 at Kenyon College working with the women’s soccer, softball, track and field, and swimming and diving teams. Jen graduated with her master’s degree in athletic training from the University of Northern Iowa in 2014. From 2012-14, Jen worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Northern Iowa and as the head athletic trainer at Aplington-Parkersburg High School.
In 2011, Jen did an internship with the Detroit Tigers and was awarded the Professional Baseball Athletic Training Society (PBATS) Scholarship. That same year, she graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and a minor in Health Science. After graduation, Jen earned NATABOC athletic training certification and a Michigan athletic training license.
Jen is certified as a Sportsmetrics Instructor. Sportsmetrics is proven to reduce the incidence of non-contact ACL injuries. As a certified Sportsmetrics instructor, she is able to use Sportsmetrics as part of the rehabilitation program in the Davenport Sports Medicine Department, as well as offer training to athletes in the Grand Rapids area.
Jen is a native of Troy, Michigan, and currently resides in Kentwood, Michigan.
