Spencer Cody joined the Davenport University men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator in 2026.

Cody comes to Davenport with Division I playing and coaching experience. A Chicago native and DePaul College Prep graduate, Cody played three seasons at Xavier University from 2019-22 as a walk-on. He earned Big East Academic Honor Roll honors in each of his three seasons and was also a Big East All-Academic Team honoree.

Following his playing career, Cody spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at the University of Minnesota before being promoted to Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development in 2024. During his time with the Gophers, Cody was involved in player development, scouting, recruiting, practice preparation and the day-to-day operations of a Division I program.

At Davenport, Cody will oversee the Panthers’ defensive system and serve as the team’s defensive coordinator while contributing to player development, recruiting, scouting and operations.

Cody earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Xavier in 2022 and his master’s degree in sport management from Minnesota in 2024.
