Ryan Thompson began his duties as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Communications at Davenport University on August 24, 2015. He has helped the athletic department transition from the NAIA into NCAA Division II with his expertise in NCAA Division II and the GLIAC.
He came to DU after serving as Sports Information Director at Adrian College (NCAA III) from 2007-2015. While at Adrian, Thompson covered 36 varsity and club sports for the Bulldogs and hosted numerous NCAA Tournament events. He covered the baseball team which advanced to the NCAA Tournament every year while at AC. Thompson also covered the men's hockey squad which made NCAA Runner Up finish in 2011 and NCAA Semifinal appearance in 2015.
Prior to Adrian, he worked at Saginaw Valley State (2004-07), Northwood (2001-04) and Grand Valley State (1999-01). Thompson has a bachelor's degree in broadcasting from GVSU which he completed in April 1999. He and his wife, Melissa, have two children - Jazmyn and Cruz - and reside in Caledonia.
