Craig Heatherly is in his sixth season as an assistant coach at Davenport. Over the last five seasons, Heatherly has helped the men's basketball program become one of the elite in NAIA basketball with an 147-32 overall record including back to back WHAC titles in 2012 and 2013 and the program's first ever WHAC Tournament in 2011.
Also during his time at Davenport, Heatherly has helped coach two WHAC Players of the Year (Nathan Cox and Dominez Burnett), seven All-WHAC 1st Team selections, nine All-WHAC Defensive honorees, six NAIA All-Americans and NAIA National Player of the Year (Dominez Burnett).
This year Heatherly will serve as the recruiting coordinator, offensive coordinator, and be in charge of the development of the guard play.
Prior to Davenport, Heatherly finished his education and playing career at NCAA Division II UMass-Lowell after the 2009-10 season with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Management degree. Heatherly was a member of a team that competed in the NCAA tournament in his junior and senior seasons. Heatherly was also a member of the 2009-10 Northeast—10 Conference Tournament Championship team.
Heatherly, a native of Mishawaka, Ind., is a graduate of Mishawaka High School, where he was the Northern Indiana Conference MVP his senior year, and led his team to a 36-10 record in basketball his junior and senior seasons.
Heatherly is currently pursuing his Master’s in Business Administration with a focus in Strategic Management. He and his wife Linaya reside in Grand Rapids, Mich.Â
