DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY PANTHERS

Chris Gervat

Chris Gervat is in his third year as the head coach of the Davenport University Lacrosse program.  Gervat is the second coach in program history, replacing Bob Clarkson who led the Panthers to a Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) DII national championship in 2011.

The Panthers made strides in 2014 as Gervat led them to their first ever CCLA DI regular season title and came within one game of advancing to the MCLA DI National Tournament in Orange County, Calif. DU finished with a record of 10-5 while seeing Dominic Boggiano be named the WHAC and CCLA Player of the Year.

In his first season, and the school's first at the DI Level of the MCLA, Chris guided the Panthers to an 11-5 record and final DI ranking of No. 21. He coached Jordan Richtsmeier who was named the Player of the Year in the CCLA and WHAC and earned Honorable Mention All-American honors.

Chris served as an assistant coach during the 2012 season in which the Panthers went 14-6 and made it to the MCLA DII National Semifinals.  Gervat helped coach a defense that held their opponents to just 161 goals (8.0 per game).

Gervat played four years of NCAA D1 Lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts where he appeared in 60 games as a defenseman and scooped up 102 ground balls in his career.  During his senior campaign, Gervat received the Goose Garber Award signifying the most unselfish player with the best attitude of a team player and was also named to the NEILA Scholar Athlete team.

Chris is currently employed by WWMT Channel 3 out of Kalamazoo and Battle Creek and also works for True Lacrosse.
