Traveling to Livonia to take on national powerhouse Madonna University is never an easy task, but doing so on Senior Night is even tougher. The Panthers played tough but could not manage a consistent attack as the host team downed DU in three straight games (30-17, 30-20, 30-13). The loss drops DU to 10-25 on the year and 4-7 in WHAC play. They will return to action on Thursday when they host Concordia University at 7:00 at Northpointe Christian High School.
Right after Madonna honored their two seniors, they came out swinging in game one, but the Panthers held tough behind a balanced attack on offense led by Amanda Schneider and steady defensive play led by Liz Holden. Midway through game one was where the host Crusaders started to pull away as they built a lead too large to overcome. DU made a few adjustments in game two and was able to hold off the Madonna attack until the late stages as MU pulled away for the victory.
Dropping the first two games seemed to get to the Panthers as they seemed a little mentally drained and never got on track in game three as they saw the Crusaders pound every opportunity they were given. Amanda Schneider posted a solid night offensively as she finished with 8 kills. Kayla Vandermolen tallied 23 assists and 12 digs on the night and was joined in double figure digs by Autumn Williams who had 12 as well.
