Ann Arbor, Mich. - David Wood is in a zone for the Panthers men's soccer team as he posted a hat-trick today to lead DU to a 5-0 shutout of Concordia University. DU improves to 7-5-0 on the year and is now 3-3-0 in WHAC play.
Wood, a sophomore forward from Middlesbrough, UK has now posted 9 goals in his last 5 games and has also earned a WHAC Player of the Week honor during that time. Today, he led the Panthers back into the winner's column with a 5-0 shutout of Concordia in Ann Arbor.
Tyler Mitchell got the scoring going for the Panthers in the first half when he hooked up with Carl Winterbottom at the 11:50 mark. DU would score a second goal at 29:08 when Winterbottom got one by the keeper on an assist from Lewis Robinson. Just before halftime, David Wood connected on his first goal of the game and would add two more in the second half for his first hat-trick of the season.
Jeremy Novakoski was solid in net for the Panthers as he posted a shutout of the Cardinals. It is the 3rd win of the season for the sophomore goalkeeper and is also his second shutout as he also posted one against Indiana Tech.
