Livonia, Mich. - As the regular season starts to wind down, the Davenport men's soccer team seems to be hitting their stride with three victories in their last four games, but the momentum was halted today with a 2-1 loss to Madonna.

In a matchup of the conference leading Crusaders and third place Panthers, Madonna rallied from an early deficit to post the 2-1 victory. DU scored in the 6th minute of the game when Elfid Kovacevic found Carl Winterbottom to give DU an early 1-0 advantage. The Panthers had a few more good opportunities in the opening half but were unable to get anything by the MU keeper.

The host Crusaders got on the board in the 31st minute when they put away a penalty kick to tie the score at 1-1 and then added the game winning goal just 11 minutes into the second half. For the game, Madonna outshot Davenport 16-10 as the offense never really got going for DU.

The loss, which is the second of the season for Davenport against Madonna, drops the Panthers to 8-6-0 on the season and 4-4-0 in WHAC play. DU will open its new field next week when they welcome Cornerstone University on Wednesday, October 22 at 4:00 PM. The field is located directly behind the brand new DU Student Center on the main campus in Caledonia Twp.
