Ann Arbor, Mich. - In yet another 5-set match for the Panthers, DU came out on top this time as they defeated Concordia University on Thursday night. The win is the first in conference for Davenport as they improve to 7-15 on the year.

After falling in three matches that went the full five sets this season, DU finally finished off the final set en route to their first WHAC win of the season. Set one was dominated by the home team as they posted an amazing 18 kills to lead them to a 25-15 victory. DU rebounded in set two as they went on an early run to take the momentum before letting the Cardinals back in late in the set but the Panthers stayed poised to post the 29-27 win.

The third set turned out to be the best of the night between the two teams as they went back and forth from the first point to the last as the home team squeeked it out 25-23. DU would again rebound to force the fifth and deciding set as they cruised to a 25-18 win in set four.

The deciding set was a see-saw battle that saw both teams execute well on the offensive side of the net and with a block DU went to the side switch with an 8-7 advantage. Concordia came right back and won the next three points to take the biggest lead by either team in the 5th set but DU again would rally and score 7 of the last 10 points to seal the win 15-13.

Megan Vanderhyde posted 17 kills in the match and Joyce Larioza chipped in with 10 of her own. Kayla Vandermolen led the team with 41 assits. The defense was also solid as Courtney DePriest (18), Kayla Vandermolem (17) and Autumn Williams (16) all posted double-digits in digs.

DU improves to 7-15 on the year as they will now take part in the Golden Eagle Invitational hosted by Cornerstone University this weekend. They take on Spring Arbor at 3:00 PM on Friday and Daemen (NY) at 5:00 PM.
