Georgetown, Ky, - After posting their first ever win inside the new Student Center, the Panthers volleyball team hit the road for a highly competitive tournament at Georgetown (KY). Friday saw the Panthers fall to #30 Freed Hardeman and #18 Olivet Nazarene.

The Georgetown "Boneyard Brawl" tournament features six of the top 30 teams in the country and Davenport knew they had their hands full after downing WHAC foe UM Dearborn on Thursday night. In the first match, DU jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead when they defeated Freed Hardeman (TN) 25-17 in the first set. The offense was once again hot but it soon cooled down as the 30th ranked team in the country dominated sets 2 through 4 winning and taking the match.

The second match featured one of the perennial NAIA powers in Olivet Nazarene and DU's opponent came into the match ranked #18 in the country. After a slow start that saw the Panthers fall 25-14 in the opening set, DU rebounded and had two set points but could not close in the second as they fell 25-27. Set #3 was also a close battle all the way down to the end, but Olivet proved too much as they escaped with the 25-20 win.

Megan Vanderhyde posted 15 kills in the two matches and Autumn Williams led the defense with 23 digs on the day.

The two losses drops DU to 12-22 on the year and they will open Saturday's play against Bethany College. After that match, they will play a crossover match for their final match of the tournament.
