Grand Rapids, Mich. - Coming off Saturday's loss to Madonna was made even worse today as DU traveled across town to take on WHAC rival Cornerstone University. The home team dominated on the offensive end and shutout the Panthers 2-0 to give DU its second straight loss in conference play.

Davenport, which entered the game receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll, was trying to rebound from a tough 4-2 loss to Madonna University on Saturday. The game started out with each team having its own chances and DU got a little scare when starting keeper Jack Owens hit his head on the sidebar when making a save on an Eagles shot. The freshman from Rochester was taken out of the game and early indications were that he suffered a mild concussion.

Davenport did not let the injury to their keeper bother them though as they continued on and had a few chances of their own before intermission. The CU goalie was just as tough fending away the few chances of the Panthers. After the first half played a to a 0-0 tie, DU came out much more aggressive in the second half but CU got on the board first with a rebound goal at the 63:32 mark. They would add to that lead on a beautiful goal just seven minutes later and then played solid defense against the Panthers attack to post the shutout.

With the loss, Davenport falls to 4-3-0 on the year and 0-2-0 in WHAC play. They will look to gain their first conference victory this Saturday when they travelt Indiana Tech for a matchup with the Warriors.
