Rochester Stats
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Two 3-set wins over UM Dearborn and Rochester lifted the Panthers to an undefeated day in their first ever Panther Volleyball Invitational. DU now stands at 14-13 on the year and 4-5 in WHAC play.
Match one of the tournament was a league game for both DU and the Wolves of UM Dearborn and the Panthers made quick work of their WHAC rival. DU won in 3-sets (25-16, 25-16, 25-13).
Autumn Williams (Fruitport, Mich.) and Ashley Penny (New Hudson, Mich.) led a very offensive minded DU team as they finished with 11 and 10 kills respectively and Kassie Graves (White Cloud, Mich.) chipped in with 9.
Kayla Vandermolen (Cedar Springs, Mich.) dished out a match high 30 assists while Courtney DePriest (Grand Rapids, Mich.) finished with 13 digs.
In the second match of the day, DU came out hot again as they swept Rochester College 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-16).
No single Panther posted more than 8 kills as the team was very balanced with four different players finishing with at least four kills. Leading the way was Amy VanEns (Lowell, Mich.) who posted 8 kills on 23 attempts.
Davenport used a very efficient service game to down the Warriors as they finished with 14 aces led by Kayla Vandermolen's 6 aces. Gina Turner (Grand Rapids, Mich.) finished with 3 aces as well.
With the wins, Davenport improves to 14-13 on the year and the win against UM Dearborn lifted them to 4-5 in league play.
DU will take on Marian University at 11:00 AM before finishing their inaugural tournament with a match with Judson at 3:00 PM.
