SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Davenport traveled to Southfield, Mich. to take on Lawrence Tech for the second time in two days. The end result was the same as DU came away with a 6-3 conference victory.
Davenport jumped on top in the first period as they scored three goals to go into intermission with a 3-0 lead. Mac Worsley (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Jordan Palma (Grandville, Mich.), and Teddy VanVliet (Byron Center, Mich.) accounted for the first three of Davenport's goals.
Early into the second period Lawrence Tech scored two goals to bring the score to 3-2. Davenport them struck back with three goals in the last five minutes of play in the second intermission. Zack Feher (Livonia, Mich.), and Norm Farr (Jenison, Mich.) scored the fourth and fifth goals to extend the lead to 5-2.
Then with 3 seconds left in the 2nd period Justin Welker (Speedway, Ind.) added DU's sixth goal from teammates Chad Ouellette (Windsor, Ont.) and Taylor Keyworth (Grand Rapids, Mich.).
The third period would be all defense as goalie Matt Sekosan (Sterling Heights, Mich.) would pick up the victory in net for DU.
Davenport has won their last five contests and is now 7-3 on the year and 4-2 in MCHC play. DU will be back in action next Saturday when they take on Lake Superior State at Patterson Ice Center. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
