GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The men's basketball team is a perfect three for three in tournament titles this year as they claimed the Calvin Tip-Off title today with a 78-74 win. The win, which is the 6th straight to open the season, breaks the school record for consecutive wins.

On Friday night, DU posted an 88-73 win over Lake Forest to give Head Coach Burt Paddock his 25th win early in his second season which made him the all-time winningest coach in Men's Basketball history at DU and on Saturday, they broke the school record for consecutive wins.

Meeting for the second time in three weeks, DU and Grace Bible were very familiar with each other but the Panthers jumped out to a quick lead and led by 11 at the break.

Davenport then opened a large lead in the second half to lead by as many as 17 but backed off the intensity which allowed the Tigers to crawl back in.

Grace Bible was able to get within a few baskets after hitting a few shots from long range and DU was unable to stop the run with the Tigers mounting their comeback.

Davenport stayed strong though and held off a late rally by defeating Grace 78-74.

Nathan Cox (Flushing, Mich.) led all scorers with 26 points as the junior also pulled down 7 rebounds on the day. Joining him in double-figures was David Thompson (Grandville, Mich.) who chipped in 17 and James Nelson (New Haven, Mich.) who posted 13.

Davenport finished the game shooting 47% (32/68) from the field and were actually out-shot by the Tigers who finished 48% from the field.

Davenport is now a perfect 6-0 on the year and will host Holy Cross (Ind.) on Monday at 7:00 PM.
