BEREA, KY - Solid Pitching and consistent bats lifted the Panthers to 16-7 and 11-6 victories over Oberlin College this afternoon. The sweep brings Davenport's overall record to 14-3 and sets up a double header showdown with the host school Berea College on Sunday at Mountaineer Field.

A tough start in the day's first game left the Panther dugout seeking answers as they quickly found themselves down by four runs after the conclusion of the third inning. The momentum would shift heavily in favor of DU as the top of fourth would score seven runs off of just five hits. Ryan Lind led the way for Davenport driving in three followed by Matt Collins and Derrick Gentile plating two each. The Panthers would end the inning up 7-4.

The Yeoman would go ahead and score two runs in the bottom of the forth and one in the fifth, but the DU sluggers would add nine more runs between the fifth and sixth to finish the game and put the Oberlin team down by one game in the series and giving Brandon Romero his third win on the season.

The second game would showcase the arm of Tucker Gernhard as he struck out six in five innings. Davenport would jump on Oberlin fast as they posted one run in the first and add on eight more in the second to go out in front 9-0. Ryan Lind would go yard on a two-run shot and Matt Collins would also go 2 for 2 scoring a run. Brian Spykerman would make his mark as well as he drove in two runs off two doubles.

The wins should help the Panthers rest easy as they carry a three-game weekend winning streak into the final day of the weekend taking on Berea College Sunday at 11:00am. The originally scheduled double header was moved up by two hours due to the threat of inclement weather.
