Box Score
TEMPE, Ariz. - Davenport's D2 hockey team ended their final game of an 8-day road trip with an impressive 8-0 shutout of Arizona State. DU completed the Florida/Arizona swing by going 4-3 after splitting with both Lindenwood and ASU.
After falling to ACHA D1 #1 Lindenwood 4-1 on Wednesday night, the Panthers' offense came out on fire in the final game against the Sun Devils. Matt Morang (Dearborn, Mich.) and Ben Dykstra (Kentwood, Mich.) got things started in the opening period to put DU up 2-0 after one.
The flood gates opened in the second as Davenport scored six more times to take a commanding 8-0 lead into the final 20 minutes. Scoring for Davenport was Brit Ouellette (Windsor, Ontario) who posted two in the period, Matt Morang, Jesse Carter (Amherstburg, Ontario), Bobby Collar (Brighton, Mich.) and Adam Thomas (Kentwood, Mich.)
Adam's second period goal put him over the career points list that was previously held by the first captain in DU history Marc Lira. More will follow on the achievement for the fifth year player from Kentwood.
Cam Thomas (Kentwood, Mich.) got the shutout in net and will look to help DU maintain their lead in the GMHL when they host Ferris State University on Saturday at Patterson Ice Center at 7:00 PM.
