COLUMBUS, Ohio -
Daniel Norris scored two tries on Saturday evening as he led the Panthers to a come from behind win over host Ohio State in Columbus. The win lifts Davenport to 4-1 on the season with a home date set for Saturday against Indiana University.
The Panthers got on the board first in the opening half when
Daniel Norris (Grand Rapids, Mich.) scored to give DU a 5-0 lead after the missed conversion. The Buckeyes came back with a try and missed conversion of their own to tie the game and later added a penalty goal to take an 8-5 lead into the locker room.
Davenport came out fast in the second half with a try in the opening minute, again from
Daniel Norris (Grand Rapids, Mich.), and
Jean Pierre Eloff (Pritoria, South Africa)converted the two points to take a 12-8 lead.
The back and forth game kept up just five minutes later when Ohio State hit a penalty goal to take a 15-12 lead. Coming from behind for the second game out of their last three, DU got a try from
Cyrus Turner (Chicago, Ill.) to take a 17-15 lead with only 14 minutes remaining in the game.
The defense then held tough to hang on to their third straight win and 4th overall compared to only one loss.
DU will host eastern conference opponent Indiana University this Saturday at the Turf Field.
