Kamstra's Two Tries Lift DU to 37-20 Win over Indiana

Panthers are now 5-1 on the year with their final regular season game against Purdue next Saturday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport heads into their final regular season game next Saturday against Purdue fresh off a 37-20 win over visiting Indiana.  The win is the fifth of the year for DU compared to just one loss.

Playing at home for the first time in a few weeks, the Panthers got off to a slow start as the Hoosiers converted a penatly kick to take a 3-0 early in the first half.

Davenport came back strong though and scored their own penalty kick by Peter Soukrasmy (Holland, Mich.)and followed with back to back tries from Travis Kamstra (Grand Rapids, Mich.)and Jean Pierre Eloff to take a 15-3 lead.  IU countered with a try of their own but after a failed conversion, DU still led 15-8.

Just before halftime, Davenport's Erin Hillary (Grand Rapids, Mich.)scored and Soukrasmy nailed the conversion for a 22-8 halftime lead for the host Panthers.

The scoring was limited in the second half as both defenses stepped up and after an IU try and conversion at 32:10 got them within seven points, DU responded with 10 straight points to push the margin to 32-15.

Again IU scored but Davenport had the final say as Kamstra added his second score of the game to make the final score 37-20 in favor of the Panthers.

Davenport (5-1) will now host Purdue next Saturday at Grandville HS.
