Balanced Effort Lifts DU to 3-0 Win over Concordia

Davenport played without three starters who were out nursing injuries

Box Score ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Despite playing without three injured starters, the Davenport men's soccer team improved to 4-0 in WHAC play today with a 3-0 shutout of Concordia.  DU is now 11-5-0 on the year and will have 10 days off before their  next match at Cornerstone.

Davenport traveled to Ann Arbor today to take on Concordia University in an important league matchup.  Looking to stay on top of the conference standings, the Panthers got on the board twice in the opening half as Carl Winterbottom (Coventry, England)scored on an assist from Jai Maw (Macclesfield, England).

The scoring continued for the Panthers when Ricco Mulero (Grand Rapids, Mich.) scored on a pass from Chase Burgess (Dorr, Mich.)and Davenport took a 2-0 lead into the locker room.

Looking to get back into the game, the Cardinals did have a chance to get on the board with a penalty kick, but the shot was missed and DU held on to their 2-0 margin.

Davenport finished off the host school when Stuart Collins (Cork, Ireland) scored on a nice pass from John Girasoli (Glasgow, Scotland) and the goal would wind up being the last of the game.

Kevin O'Brien (Cork, Ireland) earned the shutout in net and improves his season record to 11-5-0.  New DU keeper Wes Trimpe (Kentwood, Mich.) also saw action down the stretch.

Davenport will now be off until Wednesday, October 27 when they travel across town to take on Cornerstone University at 3:30pm.
