GRANDVILLE, Mich. - Davenport ended their regular season today with a strong first half that led to a convincing 21-0 win over Purdue University. Three different Panthers scored and
Peter Soukrasmy led DU with 11 total points to lift them to 6-1 on the year.
After a big 17-point win over Indiana University last Saturday, the Panthers made it a clean sweep of teams from the Hoosier state as they got the scoring started at the 17:00 mark in the opening half.
Daniel Norris (Grand Rapids, Mich.) scored a try and Soukrasmy made the first of his three conversions on the day.
Eight minutes later,
Brendan Foley (Grand Rapids, Mich.) scored to put DU up 14-0. The scoring would be completed with just over seven minutes remaining in the opening half when
Peter Soukrasmy (Holland, Mich.) scored his own try and DU posted a 21-0 lead heading into the locker room.
The defense for both teams then became the story in the closing half as neither team was able to post any points on the cool and rainy day at Grandville HS.
The win lifts Davenport to 6-1 o the year as they will now wait to find out their fate for the Eastern Conference playoffs that begin on November 6. More details on the games will be posted at www.dupanthers.com.
