Panthers Advance to the WHAC Conference Semifinals With 1-0 Victory Over Concordia

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After sharing a piece of the WHAC regular season championship, Davenport started out the conference tournament with a 1-0 victory over Concordia. With the victory tonight DU has tied the single season record for wins with 13.

Davenport controlled the pace of the game from start to finish. Even though the score remained tied 0-0 after the first period, Davenport outshot the Cardinals 11-4 with seven shots on goal.

When the second half kicked off DU continued to put pressure on the Concordia defense. Ten minutes into the half Richard Visser (Holland, Mich.)was able to eliminate the zero for DU on the scoreboard with a goal from Stuart Collins (Cork, Ireland).

Up 1-0, the offensive pressure would continue, with DU racking off 25 shots in the half and Alex Boehm having a team high eleven shots on the night. Goalie Kevin O'Brien (Cork, Ireland) would provide DU with a couple keys saves to earn his thirteenth win in net for the Panthers.

With the victory tonight Davenport will advance on to the WHAC Conference Tournament semi-final game to be hosted at the DU Turf Field. The Panthers are set to take on cross-town rival Cornerstone who defeated Indiana Tech 2-1 in their quarterfinal game earlier today. Game time for Tuesday night's match-up is 7:00pm.
