Game scoring
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -
Bobby Collar recorded an assist in the first period to pass former DU captain Marc Lira for the all-time assists lead and
Kevin Brojek recorded four points to help Davenport down Western Michigan 4-1 in their first game after the semester break.
Taking a 22-5 mark into the second semester, Davenport looked to get off on the right foot today as they hosted the Stallions of Western Michigan in GLCHL play. A goal from
Jonathon Juliano (Clinton Twp, Mich.) just 5:45 into the first period was a sign of things to come for DU as they built a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
Bobby Collar (Brighton, Mich.) made DU hockey history late in the first period when the 5th year senior picked up an assist on an
Adam Kuhn (Southgate, Mich.) goal with 2:10 remaining. The assist gave Collar 196 for his career which broke the mark of former DU captain Marc Lira (2002-2007).
Collar also added a goal in the first as the Panthers outshot WMU 21-13.
Western then scored the only goal of the second period after a defensive breakdown for DU but it would be the only shot to get by Panthers' netminder
Joe D'Elia (Toronto, Ontario).
A late goal from
Kevin Brojek (Sterling Heights, Mich.) on assists from Juliano and Kuhn made the final score of 4-1 as Brojek ended with a four point game (1 goal and 3 assists).
Davenport and Western will hook up twice more this weekend with Saturday and Sunday's games being hosted by the Stallions at 3:30pm each day.
