GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport drops final game of weekend 4-2 to Lindenwood on Saturday night. Lindenwood jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Davenport cut the lead to one just before the first half. The Lions added one in the second and one early in the third before a short handed Panther goal cut the lead to 4-2. Davenport will be in action again next Friday when they host Eastern Michigan.
Davenport looked as if they were going to strike first, getting a couple good chances in the first few minutes of the game but weren't able to get anything past the Lindenwood goalie. The Lions responded with a goal 5:39 into the first and then another less than two minutes later.
Phil Wendecker got Davenport on the board on a power play goal with just under two minutes left in the first period to cut the lead to 2-1 heading into the first intermission.
Lindenwood tallied the only goal of the second period to extend their lead to 3-1 going into the final period.
Four minutes into the third period, Lindenwood added another goal to increase Davenport's deficit to three. With Lindenwood on the power play,
Dustin Wischmeyer was able to steal the puck near the Davenport blue line and led a two on one break towards the Lindenwood goalie. At the last second, Wischmeyer passed to
Brock Carlston who made one move and put it away for the short handed goal.
Davenport will be iin action again next weekend when the Panthers host Eastern Michigan for a pair of conference games.
