ANN ARBOR, Mich. – James Humphrey poured in a career high 29 points as he led No. 12 Davenport to an impressive 80-57 win Concordia University in Ann Arbor. The victory avenges one of DU's four losses this season and improves their record to 22-4 overall and 9-3 in league action.

Humphrey (Fort Wayne, Ind.) was 12-18 from the field to lead all scorers with 29 points and Nathan Cox (Flushing, Mich.)posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead Davenport to an important conference win on Thursday night. DU remains in second place in the WHAC race, two games behind No. 3 Cornerstone.

After allowing the Cardinals to finish with 97 points in loss back on December 11, the Panthers came back strong to earn their 9th win in league play. Nathan Cox (Flushing, Mich.) made the opening bucket of the game on an assist from Lonnie Fairfax (Detroit, Mich.) and DU was off and running.

The lead quickly grew to 10-3 on a layup from Fairfax forcing Concordia into timeout but DU converted the next basket out of the break and had their biggest lead of the first half at 12-3. The Cardinals responded with an 8-3 run to get within four but that would be as close as they would get for the remainder of the game.

A field goal on the next possession from James Humphrey (Fort Wayne, Ind.) ignited a 15-6 run over the next 4:07 of game clock to increase the margin back to 13 and DU went into the locker room leading 34-23.

The first half saw the Panthers outrebound the Cardinals 28-11 with 11 of those coming on the offensive glass.

A three-pointer from Humphrey, which was the lone make from long-distance for DU in the game, gave DU a 14 point cushion and the lead never dipped below 7 points for the remainder of the game. Concordia had the score at 42-35 with 14:36 remaining but DU responded with an 11-2 run to put N end to any comeback hopes from the home team.

Davenport finished the night shooting 50% (31-62) from the field while holding the Cardinals to just 31% (20-64). The Panthers were solid from the foul line as they hit 15 of their 17 shots with Humphrey and Nathan Cox (Flushing, Mich.) each going 4-4. Davenport also blocked a season high 9 shots on the night.

No. 12 Davenport will have Saturday off as they will be in action next Wednesday, February 9 when they host Madonna University at 7:30pm.
