SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Davenport D1 rugby team opened their spring season on Saturday with an impressive 16-10 win at Notre Dame.  DU is now 8-2 on the year and will host the GR Gazelles on March 25 at the DU Turf Field.

After qualifying for the D1 National Tournament this past fall, Davenport entered the spring season with one goal in mind to improve before the tourney takes place in late April.

The Panthers got off to a good start towards that goal as they took down the Irish of Notre Dame today by the score of 16-10.

Lance Cavanaugh scored the only try of the game as JP Eloff connected on three penalty goals and the conversion for the scoring for Davenport.
