BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - In another tune-up for the D1 national tournament. JP Eloff led a fast Davenport start to a rout of Indiana 41-17 in Bloomington. The win lifts the Panthers to 3-0 on the spring and 10-2 overall. DU takes on Wisconsin on April 16 before heading to Minnesota for first round action in the tourney.
Davenport jumped out to a 27-10 lead at halftime and never looked back adding on two more scores in the second to pull out a 41-17 victory over the Hoosiers.
Jean Pierre Eloff (Pritoria, South Africa) accounted for the first 20 points of the game as
Lance Cavanaugh (Toledo, Ohio),
Griffin Benson (Traverse City, Mich.) and
Joe Bach (Birmingham, Mich.) also scored tries.
Host Indiana took a 3-0 lead in the opening ten minutes but then it was all Davenport as Eloff recorded his first try and conversion in the fifteenth minute. Two pentalty goals and one more try later and DU had built a 20-10 lead.
A late try by
Lance Cavanaugh gave the Panthers their 27-10 lead at the break.
The win lifts Davenport to 10-2 on the year as they will wrap up their regular season in Madison against the Badgers on April 16. DU will then take their focus to the national tournament against Minnesota on April 30.
