Box ScoreHELENA, Mont. – After capturing the first set, the Lady Panthers struggled in the next three to fall 3-1 to host Carroll College. Davenport is now 0-1 overall and will be back in action tomorrow at #18 Rocky Mountain College.
In the first set Davenport jumped out to a commanding 10-5 lead and maintained the five point difference all the way through to the final point to put DU up 1-0 in the match with a 25-20 victory.
In the next three sets Davenport led in the early stages of the match but big runs by Carroll and unforced errors on offense where the difference in Carroll capturing the final three matches (18-25, 18-25, 16-25).
Brittany Bott led the offensive attack for DU with 12 kills and
Kassie Graves would be right behind with 10. Freshman
Lexie Spetoskey led the assists category with 19 and
Heather Deal the digs category with 11.
Davenport will continue play tomorrow when they travel to Billings, Mont. to take on another tough opponent in #18 Rocky Mountain College. Game time is set for 9:00pm and live stats will be available at www.dupanthers.com.
Coach Garner's comment on the game:“Even though we didn't record a win tonight I was overall very happy with how my girls performed against a very tough Carroll team who will most likely be ranked in the next NAIA top 25 poll. I saw a lot of great things from our new players and I am excited about the future of this team.”
